About

Sharon started her hairdressing career in 1997. She spent ten years building her cliental in Castlebar before establishing her own business – Sharon Ralph Hair Salon in Rinshinna in 2006. Since then, it has continued to grow from strength to strength.

In addition to all colouring and cutting services, Sharon Ralph Hair Salon was the first salon in Castlebar to offer pre-bonded hair extensions with Great Length’s, having first trained with Ceira Lambert in Dublin and then with Great Lengths Ireland. Having achieved the Bronze Status after only three months, the salon is now a proud Silver Status holder with Great Lengths, and has recently added Great Length Tape Extensions to their product list. The salon chose Great Lengths initially because of their responsible and ethical sourcing of hair and was delighted when The Little Princess Trust announced that they would accept pre-loved Great Lengths Extensions.

Sharon Ralph Hair Salon is also a certified Hair and Scalp Clinic. It specialises in bespoke wigs and T-Parting’s, Sharon explains how the salon “offers a solution for those suffering from minor hair loss issues such as thinning hair, partial balding and alopecia. The salon also provides a wig consultancy and supply service to those post – chemotherapy. The salon staff endeavours to address any anxiety or nervousness about how treatment will affect the client’s hair and image in a very responsible, professional and caring manner. They explain what may happen to the clients scalp and hair and aim to give them the confidence to feel like themselves. Working in conjunction with the HSE the salon provides an in-salon, after hour’s service – the unique location of the salon allows for total privacy and confidentiality. One to one home and online consultations can also be arranged and all consultations are available free of charge.

Sharon believes that constant up-skilling and training has played a pivotal role in her success. To date, she has trained nationally and internationally and has successfully completed two Masters Degrees. In 2017, she was awarded a distinction in Chemical Colour with ALFAPARF Milano Ireland and in September 2019 she completed the Colour Specialist Masters with Kemon Ireland. The Kemon Ireland Masters had a particular emphasis on the environmental aspects of hairdressing and has allowed the salon to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. The salon now stocks the Actyva range which is not tested on animals, certified Love Nature and ICEA Vegan. The bottles of which are also 100% biodegradable. Environmental degradation and sustainability is at the fore of public consciousness so Sharon is keen to have this reflected in the business. Sharon believes that there is much more that this industry can and should be doing and would love to see more salons and suppliers making a conscious effort.
